Cherry Tree Console Table

We made a wonderful discovery at the lumber yard recently...

Lumber yarding!

slabs, and slabs of untouched cherry tree.

Preparing the slabs...

We were looking to build a side table /shelving unit for the office.  These cherry slabs would be the perfect fit.  We wanted to keep the wood as close to natural as possible.  We prepared the cherry slabs, but did not plane them.  There is simply polyurethane on the cherry wood to showcase the beautiful grain pattern and color gradation.

The next step was to choose the hardware.  For this piece we went with threaded rod and 3 inch hex head nuts.  For our purposes we painted the hardware a slate color, that enhances the natural look of the cherry.

Assembled Cherry Table ready for a fresh coat of polyurethane.

This is our Cherry Tree Console Table in its rightful place in the office.  It is truly stunning, and one of our favorite designs.
